Words of Wisdom for newbies

I created this post as a response to a thread some scared, little wide eyed, bambi type posted about being new to the Scene and it got Me thinking... While, I do feel like I answered pretty fairly, I admit, My response is pretty vague, however I don't think I am too far of base. And while it was composed in response to a sub, I think it is applicable for new Dommes as well.

Anyways, I was wondering what words of wisdom other had to contribute, if any at all.

My advice to you since you are new and scared--

Spend a little time getting to know yourself 1st. This honest blog was a good 1st step, however, if you are sincere (and not just seeking attention), then you really need to think about what you are seeking while engaging in this kind of activity...

- are you looking for kink indulgence or life changing Domination; do you just want to play or do you want to be owned?

- have you identified what kind of service you have to offer a Domme in terms of expendable resources (money, skill, time/effort, knowledge,
etc)?

- Do you understand why you are here, how you submissive desires relate to your sexuality, and what you are getting into (good and possibly bad)?

Then, once you have an understanding of those things, get to know some Mistresses...

- search for chemistry AND compatibility.

- make wise, not guarded decisions. Being smart about your decisions will lessen the chances of you being duped, however, being overly cautious will equally lessen the chances of finding substance. Think of it this way, while a reasonable Domme may be patient, She wont (and shouldn't) be desperate enough to bottom for a quick buck.

- continue having integrity (communicate honesty & take responsibility for your actions and be patient). Once you find the right Domme for you, doing these things will make the engagement much more sustainable and enjoyable.

Anyways, best of luck with your search... hope you prove to be worth the hype.
