While i think that very strong and personal long distance relationships are not only possible but something that works for many individuals, i think there are also other unique challenges involved. i am curious to please ask of You Goddess Lycia since this is Your forum, as well as others might be interested to hear from other Dommes here, What do You feel are the important qualities in a good long distance submissive? Are the good qualities and traits something they are born with? Or is it something that can be trained?

I think honesty and consistency are both very important. And I think those qualities are part genetic, part environmental, and part just what happens when a good boy finds his Ultimate Goddess :)

I agree with Lycia.  I think it comes down to having integrity.  If you have that, and all the things it is comprised of (being trustworthy, honesty, genuine, virtuous in your intentions behind your actions, etc) then you will make a good sub, regardless of location.  Communication is also key, in general, but especially as in specific to a LDR of any sort.  Communication is one of the only things you have between your Domme and yourself, as you cannot be there in the flesh to experience some emotions that can only be captured face to face.

As for the traits being born into a person, I don't believe people are born with particular personality characteristics...there is nothing innate about being a good person or an asshole.  It's about the nurturning of that person, so YES, it can be taught if that person is willing to learn.  But that falls upon the burden of the sub to be willing to receive such teachings/mentorings from his Domme.

I totally agree about communication. I do think that some personality traits are genetic, though. Of course, a lot of it is about nurturing/how a person is raised. But how would you explain a truly narcissistic six-year-old who has loving parents?

I would explain it by the outside influences that shape and gratify their attitude... tv, school clicks, etc.

I began a long distance relationship with a money domme several years back.  I was very loyal to her, and we spent hours upon hours online together.  We eventually became the best of friends.  Now she is not my Mistress anymore, but she is the best friend I've ever had.   Now I need a Mistress. lol

A radio psychiatrist that i heard today said that they have no idea of the cause of narcissism. There is a theory, though, that it might be caused in some cases by excessive praise by parents of a child's external qualities (appearance, talents, etc.).
