After four hours in a Biosafety Level Three lab, you go a little nuts. Also, you go through a whole lot of gloves. It's the respirators that really drive me crazy; the sound of your own breath, constantly, and the pressure of breathing.

Really, it makes me want to tie somebody up and strap a gas mask on them. While I'm waiting for the centrifuge to spin down, I'll imagine all sorts of crazy scenarios. Making a slave strip, then sit. Forcing him to tie his own ankles to the chair, then put a rope around his own waist. Making him put on a WWII English gas mask while I watch him, barking out orders. Handcuffing his hands behind the back of the chair and giving him a bocce target ball and telling him that the second he drops it, the scene stops. It's only a few ounces, but I know how tired his hands will get after half an hour. Tying a rope from one knee, around the back of the chair, and to his other knee. And then I can just stand back and let the ideas come to me. So much room for CBT, for tickling, for sensory play. What happens if I put some onion juice in the breathing tube - how long before his eyes water uncontrollably, how long can he take the burning, the taste? Just how far can I push his limits? If I give him one of his favorite stimuli, will the pleasure make him drop the ball? What happens if I go after his hands with a ruler?

And then the centrifuge will finally come to a halt or the timer will go off, and it will be time to continue with my work. But I keep daydreaming about My work, the wonderful things that I so rarely have the time to do.

There are lots of reasons to look forward to August of 2009 - I'll be one year married, I'll be done with the required coursework, I'll be neck deep in my disseration research, but most importantly -- I'll be done with my generals, and so I will have the time and energy to set up My own little studio. I can hardly wait.
