Work has been excellent this week. I've been learning safe techniques for being in a BSL-3 lab, so I haven't gotten to do much interesting stuff, but I've been getting to watch people do absolutely fascinating things (speaking of which, I still need to crunch some data from an earlier experiment and make sure my results are meshing with everybody else's). I've been busy, but I'm not at all surprised by this. It's the beginning of the quarter, so I'm drowining in academic papers to be read. If I read one a day, I'll be done in about ten weeks *dies.*
I did get a couple little gifts from a little houseboy wannabe - a Furminator and a Home Depot gift card that I used to buy some Swiffer supplies and a new broom and dustpan. Poor silly is in Minnesota, but the gifts seem rather appropriate. For one thing, I'm sick of getting down on My hands and knees to scrub the kitchen floor. Ideally, I'd have a houseboy for that, but My fiance is still not sold on the idea of a little service pet. And as for the Furminator, I brushed enough fur off of My kitty to send a giant box o' allergen bomb to some poor soul. It was unbe-fucking-lievable, if you'll excuse My French. The pile of fur was as big as kitty, and I kept brushing more off of him. Maybe it's true - he's not fat, he's just got a fur factory stashed in there.
And quite creepily, even though I vacuumed all the fur up, changed clothes before bed, and took a shower in the morning, some of the fur followed Me into the BSL-3 lab. The BSL-3 lab! Here I am, gown over My clothes, booties over My shoes, double latex gloves, face mask, and a pair of goggles; I look like an alien, I'm spraying down a surface and see a hair. A cat hair. A hair that is undoubtedly from My cat. Maybe I should just shave him and save U/us all the trouble of dealing with the fur. Yes, he'd be angry, but he'd forgive Me. The boys always forgive Me.
